Founded in 1920 as Sooner Cooperative, Sooner Plains Ag has since empowered NW OK farmers through grain contracting, agronomy, fuel, farm supply, and more.
We strive to empower our customers with trusted information and quality products while providing the highest levels of service.
Over the past 100 years, Sooner Plains Ag has grown into a network of cooperatives supporting Northwest Oklahoma farmers with the tools, information, technology and support they need to be successful.
As the needs of the agriculture industry changed, we’ve been at the forefront of technology and services. We haven’t grown for growth’s sake; we’ve grown because that’s how we serve farmers and ensure our industry’s collective success.
Our story begins in 1920 in Okeene, Oklahoma. As a small grain handler and marketer with the ability to store just a few thousand bushels of grain, Sooner Cooperative, Inc. was founded. Though the capabilities were small, the vision was mighty.
Over time, Okeene would expand locations to include Fairview, Hitchcock, Homestead and Loyal, and would include the addition of a convenience store in Fairview.
Simultaneously, Great Plains Cooperative in Lahoma, OK was founded in 1938 and merged with the Imo Cooperative in 1992. Later they would merge with coops at Ringwood and Meno and would include a convenience store in Meno.
On May 1, 2023 Sooner Coop Inc and Great Plains Cooperative merged into one group, Sooner Plains Ag. From that very first grain harvest season to today, we’ve focused on one thing – providing farmers with the tools, information, technology and support they need to be successful.
From our origin as Sooner Cooperative, Inc. to today as Sooner Plains Ag, we’ve been helping, serving, leading and working on behalf of Northwest Oklahoma farmers.
In addition to the new locations we’ve added over the years, we’ve expanded our services and business units to serve Oklahoma producers better. In 1999, we opened our first Cenex fuel store in Fairview, and in 2003 we added a 300,000-bushel steel tank to increase storage capacity to exceed 2 million bushels. Our grain storage now has capacity for wheat, canola, milo, sesame and soybeans.
Our growth continued as we added new fertilizer facilities, introduced precision ag equipment, new tending equipment, soil testing, crop budgeting and developed a team of expert agronomy and sales professionals. We’ve grown our fuel and energy products, added a full-service tire shop in Okeene and expanded our farm supply offerings. Leading our industry into the future of agriculture has always been a part of our business, and we’re hopeful for another 100 years of success.
As a growing cooperative dedicated to the success of farmers and producers in Northwest Oklahoma, we’re always looking for adaptable, service-driven individuals to join our team. Sooner Plains offers a competitive wage and employee benefits package. Our employees benefit from our health and life insurance plans, co-op retirement plan, paid holidays, cafeteria plan, and paid time off.
For over 100 years, we’ve labored alongside Oklahoma farmers and producers to lead the agriculture industry into an abundant future.
